The fire station
1961 saw the establishment of the Social Committee for the Construction of the Fire Station in Kozy. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Kozy, a corner stone laying ceremony took place in 1965, and in July 1966 an impressive new fire station was brought into use as a monument to the Millennium of the Polish State and the Baptism of Poland. The building has three spacious garages and an observation tower with a siren. Inside on the first floor is a large hall with a utility room and a flat for the caretaker. A parade ground and an additional garage are located in the immediate vicinity. The previous fire station facilities, i.e. the first fire station and the building of the second platoon in Kozy-Gaje were sold to the communal cooperative “Samopomoc Chłopska”. The volunteer fire brigade in Kozy, established in 1890, is the longest existing and continuously operating social organisation in Kozy. The fire station was built with the use of the most frugal methods and materials. The total cost of the construction amounted to PLN 2,249,000, of which the work of the fire brigades and the community cost PLN 1,149,000, i.e. 51% of the entire cost.
