The “LKS Orzeł” Sports Centre
The beginnings of organised sports in Kozy go back to the early 20th century, when the Sokół Gymnastic Society began to operate in the village. In the interwar period, sport activities were concentrated around the Catholic Youth Association “Orły”. The spring of 1945 saw the foundation of the Workers’ Sports Club. In 1946, by the decision of the authorities, the club was dissolved and the sports club “Włókniarz” was established as a branch of the club from Bielsko. In 1955, the People’s Sports Team was established in Kozy which led to the creation of a football pitch in the area of the former manor farm. In 1962 the Social Committee for the Construction of a Football Pitch was established. The official opening of the pitch with a small backyard in the centre of Kozy took place in July 1966. From then on, the club has operated under the name LKS Orzeł Kozy. In February 1981, a Repair and Construction Company was set up as part of the club in order to help raise money for statutory activities. The obtained funds were used, among other things, for the construction of an asphalt pitch for team games. In 1985 the sports pavilion was modernised and extended. The sports club consists of a number of sections, including football, table tennis, chess, sports bridge, girls volleyball, tourism, athletics and shooting. The expanded Sports Pavilion was brought into use in 1987.
