The cross on the summit of Hrobacza Łąka
The cross on the top of Mount Hrobacza Łąka commemorates the tenth anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Bielsko-Żywiec. The cross was consecrated on 21.09.2002 by Bishop Tadeusz Rakoczy. It is 35 metres high and has an arm span of 10.5 metres. The foundations of the cross are 12 metres deep. There is a viewing platform at the foot of the cross which stands near the border between the municipalities of Kozy and Czernichów, which also marks the boundary between the districts of Bielsko and Żywiec. The cross was erected on the site of a wooden triangulation tower which stood there until the 1990s. Lit by 22 floodlights, the cross is visible from a considerable distance. On a clear day, the summit of Mount Hrobacza Łąka at 828 metres above sea level affords a panoramic view over Silesia, Małopolska, Babia Góra and the Tatra Mountains. The mountain top lies at the crossroads of three hiking trails: yellow, from Kozy to Żarnówka, red, from Straconka to Żarnówka and the Pope’s Trail from Kozy to Straconka.
