The Krzemionki railway station
The Krzemionki railway station is located on railway line no. 117 Bielsko-Biała Główna - Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Lanckorona which was established in 1888 as a part of the Austrian Railway of Silesian and Galician Cities. Administratively the station is located in the area of the city of Bielsko-Biała. It was established in 1950 thanks to efforts of the residents of the area of Małe Kozy, Krzemionki and parts of Hałcnów and Lipnik due to the considerable distance of these districts from the Kozy station. The land for the station was donated free of charge by the Herma family. The 15-member Station Construction Committee collected funds from contributions and events organised for this purpose. In autumn that year, the station was put into use together with a building which housed a ticket office, a waiting room, and a small flat for the station master. The construction work progressed quickly and lasted day and night. The works began on 25 May 1950 and just 4 months later, on 15 October 1950, there was a ceremonial opening of the railway stop, which was named Krzemionki after the hamlet. The first train pulled into the station at 11:07. The station building was demolished in 2005 due to its poor technical condition. The only surviving element is the single-track platform. Currently, passenger traffic at the station is negligible; in 2017 it was recorded at the level of 0 to 9 passengers per train. Currently, 7 pairs of passenger trains run each way daily on the route.
